MASKED AFFILIATE LINKS

I discussed in a recent post that a visitors and friend of mine Tommy helped me with how to do these links, now let me teach you.

These links basically not only hide your affiliate links they also brand you too. So instead of displaying something like :   www.hostgator.com/aff=12345
You would display something like: www.DeanHolland.com/uses/hostgator

So.. How to do it -

1 - Firstly open up a notepad document on your computer
2 - Copy and paste the following redirect code into the notepad:

<?php $URL=”Copy and paste your Affiliate link into here“;
header (”Location: $URL”);
exit();
?>

3 - Replace the bold line above with your affiliate link to which ever program you are linking to
4 - Save the notepad document with the file name of -  index.php
5 - Then head to your hosting cPanel and open up the file manager
6 - On the first screen which is the public_html folder you need to click the icon the create
      new folder
7 - Name that folder whatever you like such as -  goto  or  picks   or anything you can think of
8 - Then open up that folder that you created so you are in that folder
9 - Within that folder create another folder, name this whatever you like again but relate it to
      whatever affiliate program you are refering to. Such as ‘hostagator’ if you were promoting
      hostgator hosting

This would then have created a location such as I have with deanholland.com/uses/hostgator

10 - Once you have done that open up the last folder you create ( i.e ‘hostgator’ ) and upload
       the saved notepad file you created earlier. You do this by clicking the ‘Upload’ icon in
       cPanel

Something to note, make sure the affiliate link you saved within the redirect code in notepad refers to the same as the type of location you create in your file manager. Forexample if you create a redirect link to hosting, dont create a location with a name to aweber.  Hope thats clear to you…

Well thats it !!   Well done

Something I actually did also just to back that up…

In your cPanel you can go to the ‘redirects’  icon within the domains section

In there you can create a redirect link to your affiliate link also. So if you just created the location -  YOURDOMAIN.com/goto/hostgator   you can enter that then enter your affiliate link to redirect to that location.

That just puts a second method into place but is not needed if you do the above method correctly

Good luck with it all. Post any questions within my blog

CREATE YOUR OWN PAGES

I discovered recently that you could make your own pages within your cPanel of your hosting…… FREE :)

This will be a great cost saving to those that want to give it a try, with a little practice I’m sure we could be pretty good at it

Here’s how….

1 - Log into your hosting account
2 - Select the ‘file manager’ icon
3 - On the popup select ‘Go’ to access your web root file
4 - To the top of your screen you will now want to select the ‘New File’ icon ( See below )

5 - On the popup give the file a name, the file must then end with .html
For example - squeeze.html This would give you the domain of
www.YOURDOMAIN.com/squeeze.html

6 - Now, back on your file manager screen you will see your new file listed.

    Right click

on your mouse on the new file

7 - You will then get options. You need to click on the ‘html edit’ option
8 - Then the editor screen will popup. This is where you can actually make a page !

You can then go ahead and put what ever you want on the page, text, images, audio.. Or whatever using the on-screen options.

Note that to the bottom of the page are 3 tabs - Design .. Source .. and Preview

‘Design’ is where you will want to build your page unless you know html coding
‘Source’ is where you can insert html code such as your auto responder code
‘Preview’ is where you can preview what the page will look like online

Have a play around, see what you can do. When I have had more time to use it I will put a more detailed report together for you showing you what and how I do things with it.

Hope it comes in useful.. I think its rather fun :)
