I nearly lost it ! But see what can happen….

Hey
I’ve got some good stuff to cover in this post so hope you take some great things away from it to help you.
First off I want to let you know something in case you’re thinking that it’s only you that feels this way. So what am I talking about, and what did I nearly lose ??
“FOCUS”
I’m guessing from things I have read and seen that most if not all people have or will experience a lack of focus at some point in their quest to build a successful online business, but its what you do to regain that focus and passion that matters !
What I found myself doing just recently was trying to chase money, this is the worst thing I ever did in the past to cause me to fail at succeeding so why was I doing it now ?? Well in all honesty I’m not sure, I suppose it is the fact I have made some good money and just want that to continue. I now realise to make that continue I need to be doing the things I was doing during the initial part of my coaching with Alex Jeffrey’s.
Now I have regrouped and altered my mindset and actions to the way they should be. In fact about 5 weeks ago I had my first successful email marketing campaign for a great product that I found, I have actually been thanked by a few people on my list for the recommendation !
The product was for a full years coaching with 2 top internet marketers, see it here – 12 Months coaching
This email to my list made me just over $90… BUT get this, that payment is recurring every month for 1 year ! So over the course of 2009 that 1 email has earned me about $1100, not bad right ?!
Here’s the thing though, when I sent that email I hadn’t even begun to understand how to operate and perform email marketing effectively using Aweber. I can’t help but think now with the recent training from Alex Jeffrey’s and Andrew Fox what a difference to my earnings the ‘Triple Threat’ tactics could have made !
My main thought is what if my list was 10 times bigger ! Put that together with some nifty email marketing tactics and that promotion could have done $10,000+ ! So I am now as you may already have read focusing on list building in a big way, I’m also learning Aweber and what can be done with it. The realisation is, the more people on your list then the more money you will make… IF you build the relationship with your subscribers ! It is only now I have pulled myself out of the ‘money chase’ that I can see clearly what needs to be done.
This is the power of having Focus, if you have it and keep it you are going to head in the right direction as I feel I am now.
What I want to say to you is this – This stuff REALLY works !
Just look at this, mid October 2008 I had nothing… Zilch, big fat zero ! Now in February 2009 I have a blog that offers lots of help to my visitors, I have a product of my own that is building a list daily for me and I have made thousands of $$$. What has it taken ? Consistent regular work, a clear plan of action and more importantly sticking to the plan ! You can do this if you really want it.
Set goals and work to achieve them, I set myself a goal 3 days ago to get 50 new subscribers on my list in 1 week. So far I have done about 69, mainly through giveaways. The very same ones that I have listed on my giveaway events page so that you can join and grow your list too !
The BUZZ of seeing results is just the best feeling in the world but without focus and consistency you will fail. You don’t want that to happen, I don’t want that to happen so if you are not focused like I wasn’t then now is the time to turn things around for yourself. Help is here if you need me, I have a contact me page.. Go there and ask for my help if you want it.

Hey Dean;
Amazing..you are so right about chasing the money, I just posted similar…not near as bluntly or eloquently.
It is so easy to the same actions we have been victim to by the lists we belong to.
I am with you, build our lists to mega proportions, feed that list with good content, and then when a real opportunity comes along our lists will appreciate us thinking of them.
Talk with ya soon…

This is timely, Dean. And, after Alex’s last session, I am going back to the planning book. I really appreciated what he said about writing your plan before you sit down to the computer. That’s the key for me to stay focused, because once I turn the computer on, it’s easy to get distracted with everything.
Good point about not chasing the money, too.
All the best,
Theresa

Dean you’re bang on…this is what I realized yesterday I have been doing, not focusing. After module 7 the other night…I know I have to go back over all the modules again right from #1.
I just have to get a few things out of the way first. I’ve been trying to get organized, and am finding it much easier said than done.

Hi Dean,
Great post. You are exactly right – focusing on the things that are essential are the keys to long-term consistent success.
I have had a plan from day one when I joined the AJ coaching course and I am religiously sticking to it as I progress. Sure I am re-evaluating and adjusting as I go along the way but I am effectively doing exactly has our mentor has taught us. Don’t chase the money, focus on establishing your name/brand (through your blog) and build on that firm foundation.
I have certainly progressed more than I could ever have dreamed of in the short few months since starting the Blog. People are coming to me with a variety offers to JV or whatever every week. It feels great but it has taken hard work and will continue to do so.

Very nicely put, Dean. I’m just starting to feel my way forward a bit and am regaining some of that excitement I felt at the start. I joined one of the giveaways you’re on right now and have been following both our progress – you managed to make a little money as well as get some subscribers, whereas I just got subscribers! But it was my first try. I think my next post will be about giveaways now that I have a dangerous amount of knowledge on the subject! I can at least certainly recommend them to people as a way to build your list fast. Press on and follow through!

Very nice post Dean and glad to see you’re maintaining your focus and seeing progress.
With internet marketing it’s so easy to jump from one thing to the next in hope of making it rich, Lord knows I’ve done this myself, but I’m getting back my focus.
Congrats again and I definitely understand how one can get into chasing profits rather than chasing your passion.
Gary Vaynerchuk had a great post about this couple days ago on his blog.
Keep up the work Dean,

Hey Dean,
Once again an inspirational post.Congratulations on starting to see that income grow, I have no doubt that you will achieve all your goals this year. Surely getting that ball from stationary to rolling is the most difficult part, now its rolling it will gain momentum before your eyes!
I think with the coaching finished (well officially) we have all stepped back and re-evaluated what we have achieved and what we want to achieve. I actually enjoyed doing mine. When you write down what you have learnt it feels so much more.
If anyone is having a bad day with things come over and take a look at the video I just posted on my blog. I saw it on Warrior Forum and it actually brought me to tears -OK I’m a girl, it may not be like that for you!! But it really makes you think about giving up or battling through things.
Speak soon

Hi Dean,
I think this focus issue is something that I struggle with everyday. Even the days I think I’m focusing. I can’t forget what Alex said way back in Module #1. “Do the thing that’s most important first”. So if I do nothing else, it’s drop everything and just do what I know is most important to my business.
Well that’s helped me get my first e-book done. Having what I believe is a quality e-book is opening up more doors very quickly.
By the way if anyone wants to learn how to make money with video marketing, you can pick up a free copy of the e-book on my blog.
Glad I stopped by and read this and some of your other posts today Dean.

Rob Brooks

Hi Dean,
Good post on focus. And some nice comments by your “PEEPS” too.
I have decided to make a warning about something that we ALL need to be wary of. As it is so important to everybody’s ongoing financial wellbeing I thought I would come here to you and drop the link here. I didn’t think you would mind.
Here it is:
