Im back !.. Let me fill you in
ByYo yo peeps
How you all doing ?? I cant believe it… Christmas and New year just came and went real fast huh !!
I think its GREAT !! And why ??? Because now OUR year begins.. The year where we all shine and our lives take a turn in the direction we all want to be in
So just yesterday I returned from my New year celebration in Blackpool here in England.. I cant begin to tell you how frickin cold it was but we had fun anyway.
You may have also noticed that over the festive season I have neglected my online work. This is due to other obligations of visiting family and friends and then away partying over new year… But Im here now and ready to blast ! So to those of you that have emailed me recently I am working now to catch up and will be in touch soon.
Ok, what have I got to tell you ….
Well first off I mentioned recently that I took the money I got off family for Xmas and invested it into my business.. I wanted to demonstrate it to you rather than type it but it is proving to be harder than I thought. So until it is ready I better tell you.. I went and bought a mini camcorder !!!! Now I can shoot my own videos and upload online
My Mrs laughed at me but I also got a tripod for it too, she thinks I look funny sat there with it set up in front of me…. lol
It’s actually really hard for me to sit in front of a camera and talk, seems really unnatural but i’ll get there soon. I guess for me its something that is stepping out of my comfort zone, you see others doing it like Alex Jeffreys and it looks easy. When I actually sat and started talking I began pausing, not knowing what to say and if I wrote it down to help it just looked badly rehearsed.
I think I just need to sit alone and record myself.. Im sure it will turn out ok, hell Im not recording artist or presentor so when it arrives please be kind .. Ha ha ha
Ok.. The traffic competetion set by Alex. Well honestly I have not done much to generate traffic so I expect there are many students flying past me right now due to my lack of online presence. I know a couple of emails I sent to my list generated me traffic but that actually wasnt the intention of them. These emails were about my Xmas gift so people didnt miss out but they did push a few hundred visits to here over a few days.
Prior to Xmas the traffic generating methods I had done were only really on the Warrior Forum. I did a couple of posts on there which bought in traffic, if you dont take part on there I suggest you do ASAP. ( www.warriorforum.com )
I use Twitter but dont see much from that yet at all as I dont use it effectively ( YET )
I think one major thing I have done is visit other blogs in this niche, I do get a lot of traffic from leaving comments on others blogs so I suggest if you are not yet, get out there and join in.
In the past I have also joined other forums but have not been active on them for several weeks.
To be honest not only with you but with myself I need to get my organisation back into gear. With the crazyness ( If thats even a word ) of Christmas I let things get a bit messy and that is my first new goal to get organised.
So as far as traffic generation that is pretty much it for me…So when do we post screen shots ( Any fellow students know ? )
Hope all your efforts are going well, I have spent a good hour and a half visiting students blogs today and commenting. I will get around to more of them tomorrow…
Tomorrow I also intend on doing a December goal review of the goals I set for last month and then set the goals for January, In fact I want to lay some goals down for the year of 2009 so be sure to come back for them.
Speak soon
Dean

Hi Dean
I know what you mean about recording yourself - I recently got a Flip camcorder and talking to it is a bit wierd - practice makes perfect though.
I missed the module on the traffic comp so clueless as to what we were supposed to be doing..
Bring on 009!

Dean,
I feel you with the whole holiday thing.
I like you post on the warrior forum and have registered at the others. I just find the warrior forum to be much more interesting!
Good luck in 2009!

Hey Dean
I agree with Jerry. I recorded myself and my mouth went dry, my mind went blank and I was gabbling on about goodness knows what. Even worse when I played it back
Hopefully you’ll fare better. I’ll probably stick to Camtasia for the time being.
Best wishes for 2009

Hey Dean
Happy new year!
I got a camera over the holidays too.
Yes, the recording yourself bit is weird and I didn’t know what to say.
I kept messing up, but I edited it all together so that it made quite a funny video. Shows that I’m human and people always laugh at mistakes.
I added it too my blog if you want to see it.

Hey Dean, Happy New Year. What I was trying to say about the 100 sign ups is that if they got 100 signs up I would have access to them via my sign ups and so on down the line. Probably didn’t make it as clear as I should.
Just a tip about recording. If you’re taping alone, picture the camera as being someone you’re close to, your wife, best friend, etc. Focus on that and talk as you normally would talk to them and make it as conversational as you can. Do take after take until you feel you’re satisfied.
You probably already know all this but thought I’d pass it along anyway.
Hope it’s of some help.

Hi, Dean,
I just looked at your “how to” page. That’s great information! Thanks!
All the best,

Good for you,Dean for getting the video camera. I hope you got one that’s better sound quality than mine.
It does take some getting used to . . . video taping yourself, but it gives people a way to get to know and trust you. See your body language, where you live and work, all that.
I joined Warrior Forum, too. Mostly reading and learning how to post. Some of us are really new to this. It takes a little time to understand the ways of the internet world.
Anyway, I wish you all the best,
Theresa

Hi Dean,
If you go to http://www.cueprompter.com they have a free online auto prompter service.
If you do feel a bit tongue tied you only have to glance at the screen and away you go again.
All the best,

Hello Hurricane Dean,
Man that post you left over at Gary-Land just about blew my palm trees clean away (PEEPS…I had a photo of my tropical palm outdoors living area up on my site - if ya wanna come and see where the Gazz-man lives, that is).
I have a NEW post there but now Dean and you haven’t seen it yet, I don’t think. It is all about my appraisal of the STATISTICS of what I see with the Alex Jeffreys F500. And it might surprise you.
Good luck with your recording - hoping to see what your head looks like real soon.
Regards
Gary.
PS: I normally never do this but I think this is so important I’m gonna give the STAT-page link here:

Hi Dean,
I have to get re-organized too. I’ve been doing a few things off and on over the past couple of weeks, but with Christmas, New Years, and my grandson’s 3rd birthday I have also had a lot of unexpected company. So, I haven’t had much time (or much traffic) lately either. I’m hoping to get re-organized quickly! (Gary Simpson’s “Time In Motion” is going to be a big help to me for organization). There’s so much I want to do.
I haven’t tried videos yet, but I know when I do it’ll seem fake to me too!
Talk to you soon,
Lori

Hi Dean,
Glad you had a good Christmas and happy to see you back.
I too was taking it easy over Christmas and am now only getting back into things. Just putting the finishing touch to issues 2 of the Profit Pulling Newsletter. Closing date for inclusion is midnight tonight UK time. So all those that haven’t completed the 4 steps need to get them done pretty sharpish (Dean reminder for you there – not quite finished yet!! ;-))
Regarding your mention of using Warrior Forum for traffic generation. I referred to this in my post on the stuff I was doing for Traffic Generation way back on Dec 23. See this post here…
http://garryparkes.com/garry-parkes/win-the-traffic-competition/
Only reason I mention it, is there was a lot of debate and warning about WF – particularly for ‘newbies’. The debate starts at about comment 12 from Gary Simpson, so I think ‘newbies’ need to be careful with using the forum – that seemed to be the general gist of things. Oh, clever ‘tactic’ Dean - only mentioning what you were doing with the Traffic Competition AFTER the competition, LOL
Seriously though, glad to see you’re back and looking forward to your first videos. As I’ve mentioned on numerous occasions on my blog, using videos are extremely powerful. As an example, the last 30 second promo video I did for the free newsletter is embedded in nearly 2,500 (yes TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED!) Websites across the world. Now that’s impressive and something I will be doing more of in 2009 and I urge everyone else to give it a go as well.
Anyway, off to finish the PPP now.
See you later ..

Hi Dean,
I knew it was a camcorder! lol
Looking forward to seeing the vid, I don’t envy you, I have enough trouble getting the words out when making a camtasia presentation!
Well done for stepping outside the comfort zone, feels good though doesn’t it!
All the best

Hey Deano,
Thanks for stopping by the blog
Well done on the Camcorder –
If I can give you a snippet, before you record anything, wether it be you or the computer screen …
try and firstly complete a ’storyboard’ of what you are wanting to record …
It does not have to be fancy, even simple ‘bullet points’ and pad round them …
Sometimes being natural and connecting with the viewer is better than a staged polished unnatural approach …
At least that is what I try to achieve with my video tutorials ….
Not sure everyone would agree ha hah ha ha !
Onwards and upwards.
Cheers
Tommy

Hi Dean,
Congratulations on your new investment.
You should check out my Resources page on my blog.
http://www.davepumfrey.com/resources/
Amongst the list of great resources I’ve amassed there’s a link to a guy with +20 years of video production experience and he explains how to do video production and make money online by strategically using videos!
There’s tons of useful stuff on his site, covering all areas of video production and promotion using videos.
Whilst your on my blog, I’d also appreciate you leaving a comment.
Can’t wait for your e-book on video production!
To your continued success.

Hi Dean,
Welcome back and good luck on your movie career. I just got an email from your
auto-responder promoting the Kickstart Mentoring Program. I really like the cloaked affiliate link you are using. It looks like a good sales oportunity for me. I am going to write some classified ads, send some emails and put the opportunity on my website.

Hi Dean,
I have did a lot of video stuff when I was in recruitment and training and I know it is a bit weird when you first try talking to a camera because everything you want to say goes out of your head the minute the camera goes on.
But I would like to give you a tip, if I may, one that was given to me many years ago.
Just stick the camera on in the home and record whatever you are doing (well, almost everything!!)
Whether you are cooking or on the PC or just talking to the other half, you will still find that, even though you are recording just for fun, you will clam up or start talking and acting like a robot.
But you need to train your brain to “accept” the camera and that’s what you will be doing here, gradually.
Then, eventually, your brain will treat the camera like any other tool of communication, such as the phone and you will find yourself talking to it. This will become so natural it will seem as though you’ve been doing it for years.
Hope this helps.
As for being behind, I’m still banging away, bit by bit at my blog, but I will get there. It has been a slower start than I wanted.
Regards,
Richard

Hi Dean
I think there was quite a few of us who took a break over xmas. There just wasn’t enough hours in the day to do the family thing and keep the pressure up online.
I’m sure you will be brill on your video. I think you spoke very naturally to Alex on the webinar infront of us all so I’m sure you will be fine.
Anyway I’m ready and raring to go now, just need to polish my organisational skills like you.
Good luck with everything.

Hi Dean
Great Blog - I really like all the energy that fizzes from your posts. I’m an Alex Jeffreys student making progress but a bit slower than you! I ahve downloaded your excellent blog setup guide and had a good read. I was wondering what the plugin was that you had used for reading time on your blog. I’ve downloaded time-2-read and installed it on my blog at http://gmoob.com/blog.
Happy New Year

Hey Dean, Done you’re recording yet? I’m contemplating on writing an e-book with some tips on how to get the best video presentation.
I’ve had some experience in that field.
Think you or any one else would be interested?

Hello Dean
Excellent post and I’m pleased about your camcorder.
It did make me think though, that most Newsreaders on TV lok at the camera but just below it is their script.
I’d suggest you use the ‘prompter’ suggested by Paull and place your camera ‘just’ above your computer screen.
Then you can read your script but it will look as though you are looking at the camera and talking naturally.
I’m looking forward to seeing your video. Hey, even the duff ones might be good publicity on YouTube!!
Looking forward to meeting you later this year.
Best Wishes
Joe

Hey Dean, that’s awesome, now we’ll be able to listen to you and not read so much, i came across a nice blog the other night with almost every update done by video, and he lets you download them too - sweet.
one of the videos tells you how to get unlimited leads - you simple hop over to http://mail.google.com and setup a new gmail account specifically for this purpose, next you head over to http://www.google.com/alerts and what you do is you create lost of questions that your ideal customers would be posting like…
“how do i setup a wordpress blog”
“how do i customize wordpress?”
use question marks to get very specific.
google will then send you alerts with a link
back to where the question was posted.
most of these sites also have a way to answer the questions.
so you simply write an informative answer, and link back to your
site(squeeze page for your blog ebook).
wicked tip huh?
enjoy!
