Hi Dean, I was thinking along the same line as my inbox is alway full and i dont’t get the chance to read them all. When i try reading them it takes soo soo much of my time.
Thanks for your advice, I’m going to do something about this right now.

Hey Dean,
I did this a while ago and it has indeed saved me a ton of time.
Yet I still find more and more that I need to get rid of, I have kept a few of the better known marketers so I can see how they do it but I was finding emails from people that were coming in and instead of reading them I had been deleting them for months rather unsubscribing.
Will have to go have another clear out now, might be busy for an hour or so just unsubscribing from them all
All the best,
James

Hi Dean
I cannot get the video to play, don’t know why, but from the comments from Fred and James above I assume your are talking about email and suggesting that we should unsubscribe from all but a few people.
I used to get 400 – 500 emails a day but did spend some time unsubscribing from most of them and will have to do it again soon as the numbers are creeping up again.

Hi Dean
What a great topic to address. I’ve already done the unsubscribe dance once, and its time for another one. Today!
Another tip that I was given recently was to use an email address just for subscribing to offers – that way they don’t clog up your primary/friends/personalinbox. And you also don’t see any of these offers without opening that email box. You might only do that once a week.
Your presence is always welcome in my email, however. Thanks mate.

Hey Dean,
Great information that many coming online need to know about. True, there are many who need the content and information to learn, and will get promotions sent by everyone.
Best idea is to choose a few key people to follow and learn from. Better yet, hop onto a great coaching platform like yours, and they will learn more quickly.
Wish I’d made it back to Vegas… sorry I missed you guys there!

Dean, I also cannot get your video to play. I went through an unsubscribe fit a few months and it’s time to do it again. Sometimes you get into a trap where you don’t want to miss anything, but it takes so much time. It’s also very frustrating when you open the e-mail and the marketer is pitching the same products you are or can get from PLR.

Excellent advice. The mistake I made was ordering too many courses. It reached a point I couldn’t get to all the information, so I had to eliminate that practice. It’s difficult because the marketing experts know how to push the right buttons and create fear of loss. A little self-restraint goes a long way.

Hey Dean,
Yep, Sorry Dean, I can’t see the video either in Firefox but I’ve got a pretty good idea what it’s about from the other comments.
I do an email purge now and then. If you don’t you’ll end up with so many emails it takes all day to go thru them. I do like to subscribe to other marketers to see what methods they are using but unfortunately for them I unsubscribe a couple months later. This way I have a revolving door of new marketers every few months.
I’ll come back later to see if you’ve fixed the video.
Later,

Hi Dean
Once you start on the road of an online career, there are always people that catch your eye and make an inpression, you want to know what else they have got to say, so I am guilty of subscribing to far to many news letters etc..
But that said there are some great tips you can pick up on all subjects, I just try to scan what might be important to my everyday work and just read those, others that may give me some insight I save in seperate folders to read when I have a few minutes (which is not very often, this Internet marketing takes up most of my time at present), one day I will only have to work a couple of hours a day, like all the Guru’s promise.
The ones I dislike are those that send through the same affiliate products day in day out, week in week out, I wish they would just move on with their marketing.
Any way that is my little piece on the subject.

Hi Dean
Excellent advice, Dean. Each month I review the mails I receive and assess their “worth”. A few minutes of unsubscribing and I recoup time – a precious commodity.
Also, following on from Anthony Smits earlier comment, I have a number of email accounts: one for personal, one for promotional mails from fellow marketers, and an Outlook account where I manage the different “identities” connected to my websites.
Doing this helps me to prioritize my daily work – it’s so useful.
All the best

Hi Dean,
Superb content in the video as always.
I can totally relate to it as I made the big step myself at the New Year.
I was getting between 4-500 emails A DAY (waking up to about 250 of them!) and was getting bogged down in reading them and not actually moving my online Business forward.
I took the decision, like you rightly say, to remain on the lists of those marketers who ONLY give useful and interesting content mixed with a smattering of offers (Us marketers have got to pay the bills like everyone else after all!!!) Hence I am very happy to be on your list Dean.
I now only wake up to about 40 odd and its great. I have become instantly more productive and more focussed on 1 project and not working with a scattergun effect!!
But this is the great part. In the 15 months up to 31 Dec I had made just over $1000 online (pretty tough going!). Since 1 Jan I have seen exponential growth and have almost made that already in just 5 weeks!!!!!!! Onward and upward.
I must say that I have kept all the UK marketers on my list as I am planning a giveaway event in a few months for UK marketers only to add a freebie!! Watch this space!!
Keep up the great work Dean. You deserve all you achieve

Hey dean
Yes I had the problem with firefox so I went to the link you provided.
(Thanks)
Yes it is a great problem a lot of us suffer with, me as well, and I’ve mentioned this before in my posts.
And I think it’s about mindset.
You’ve just got to stay focused…one thing at a time…
So your video has come at a good time to remind us all yet again…
STOP DOING IT…
Have you got any advice for your readers how to go about receiving email…you mention you had a Yahoo acount…how many other different accounts did you have..?? what did you use them for..??how did you use them…?? I know some people use FFA to gain traffic..although I would advise against it…and they use free throw away email accounts because they get bombarded by email and spammers.

Good advice. One additional situation that I’ve noticed is that we may be very impressed with a product that we’ve purchased but never took action on it and the impression fades away. Then something else comes along and revives our enthusiasm and we purchase it and we’ve already forgotten about the wonderful product that we already own. Often times the new product isn’t even as good. Many of us have very valuable information already sitting on our hard drives. Implementation could make a big difference.

Hi Dean.
Yeah thanx for the advice. I am in the same boat as many others and just getting to much info. I am not reading most of my email as I just run throught the headlines real quick but still takes time and the ones I am saving for further reading never gets read. So might as well get rid of them. Hello Dean,
Your e-mail was the second I opened (Yes first thing in the morning)
Both videos were motivating me to stop goofing off and DO something.
The difference was:The first guy’s looooong video was trying to sell something high priced.
Yours motivated me and had no sales pitch at the end. So now I am interested in not only what else you have to say, but what you are selling that might help me stop goofing off and actually make some money.
Thank you,
Look forward to you next e-mail (you are staying on my list)

I have the same problem. I get over 200 e-mails a day. I put about one third to Junk. I then skim through the rest and read about 15. I would be further ahead to unsubscribe to most of them. It would save a lot of time. I could be creating more websites with that time. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Dean
Your new email with the video link worked and as I suspected you were telling us to be selective about whose email lists we stayed on.
By unsubscribing we free up our email box and have more time for more important things.
I will be unsubscribing form one of the lists you have me on as I get two identical emails, with different headings, every time you do a mailing. Does your autoresponder not select duplicates from different lists so that only one email actually goes out to one subscriber?

If you want to stay on the lists, in case you want to use them sometime, you can just delete a page at a time. You dont have to open them.Actually my heart sinks even more when I receive videos- why cant they include a quick written resume to see if it is worth the time they want me to devote to their message?

Great video, this is something that I did last year. because for me it’s not just about knowing what’s happening in your marketing place, but what value do they provide…
Before my inbox looked like yours and took all my focus, and determination away. and most of all my time.

I’ve had two other coaches tell me I needed to spend less time wading through emails and more time building profitable websites and squeeze pages, but I kept opening hundreds of emails a day and clicking links to watch yet another “earth shattering” video and downloading “free” stuff to my hard drive that I’d never look at again. Then I used that as time-wasting habit as an excuse for never getting anything done.
Your video FINALLY got to me, and I immediately unsubscribed from a dozen or so lists that have been sending me nothing but one offer after another. By the end of today, I intend to unsubscribe from about 100 more. I will keep only those that consistently provide content that I can use to further my training, but will delete without opening anything that even looks like an offer, until I get my daily emails down to an hour or less a day.
Thanks for your frankness, Dean.
Joy and abundance,
Cim

Just last week I started “unsubscribing” from anything that was not providing any useful information. Any thing that would give me new info / knowledge I kept, everything else goes. Also going to try to make sure that all e-mails I send provide value.

Hey Dean,
Thanks for the video and tips, I used to have this exact same problem, as I’m sure anyone who has ever been interested in IM will have too.
Luckily I saw the light and realised it was draining my time, and I was getting less and less done, and more and more distracted by all the different offers that were being thrown at me.
I now have a different agenda and mainly sign up to people’s lists that interest me, for research purposes.
It’s also a good way of spotting new trends and keeps you ahead of the pack.
Keep up the great work!

Hello Dean
Frankly I am wildly desperate about my personal ‘information overload’.
What does my ‘inbox’ look like ? Not too bad really. Only 113 unread right now. So where is the ‘problem’ you may ask ?
Inbox = 113
But I do have well over 100 categories that are going to separate ‘Inboxes’ and this is how ridiculous I have become. I have created a monster that is really consuming me and driving me mad.
Total unread messages = 11 451 …….. !
What on earth do I think I am doing ? There was a time when I truly thought I was making headway but for some time now I have been going round in square circles.
Come on Dean, here is a challenge ? I will definitely without hesitation unsubscribe from 100% of all other if you just give me a reason to believe that I too can move forward by following you.
I know it is up to me but I am admitting that I desperately need a ‘leader’ to get me back on track. Up to the challenge ?

We all do it at one point or another.
And the more lists we add to the pile, the more we feel compelled to check every ten minutes for something new.
In the end… what have we got? A day full of clicking our inbox, and not actually doing anything at all!
I cut my teeth on the old school guru plan when that’s all we knew. I was a regular promo junky sending out whatever came across my desk. It paid well, but I hated it. Finally, I just quit. I even cut off ties with some big names and told them outright no more promos, sorry. Caught some flack for that…but it’s worth it.
Dean is a good friend and we had some long talks about the direction of this market.
I think Dean speaks well for us all in saying, enough is enough.
Let’s cut to the chase and do some real learning and growing.
We need some real content, and I’m proud to say there’s people like Dean out there willing to answer that call.

Hi Dean, I’ve been marketing (in earnest) for a couple of months and I already have two websites up and running. I know I’ve made mistakes with both sites and I probably won’t make much money out of them, but I still see it as part of the learning curve we’re all on.
I’ve gotten into the habit of repeating the mantra, ‘I can be a success, I will be a success, I AM a success!’
Onwards and upwards.
Watching a video like yours is a personal reminder of the due diligence required to be a success.
I thank you for that.

Dean, This is the #1 time bandit for most people, let alone IM people. I started doing this two weeks ago, what I did to get started was to hit the “SELECT ALL’ button then unselected the ones that I wanted, I instantly was amazed at the # emails that went away when I hit the DELETE button. After that I started the unsubscribe process of 5-10 a day.:-) Also I never look at my emails first thing when I go on my computer, if I do I lose (time) This the #1 key habit to develop in order to be successful online. Keep up the good work Dean.

Hi Dean
If one person tells you to do something … he/she may be blowing steam.
If two people tell you to do something … you probably should listen.
If three people tell you to do something … you need to listen.
if more people tell you to do something … why aren’t you listening?
I can’t even get my mailbox empty so I guess I better start deleting them. Besides, if you follow 1/2 dozen people you’ll hear about everything there is going on out there anyway. Most of the info is just a repeat.

I have also noticed that some of the marketers are placing the unsubscribe option waaaaaayyyy down the email. One has to scroll for sometime before finding it. I’m not sure if it’s by purpose or accident.
Time to trim the fat and move on.
