Hi Dean, I was thinking along the same line as my inbox is alway full and i dont’t get the chance to read them all. When i try reading them it takes soo soo much of my time.
Thanks for your advice, I’m going to do something about this right now.

2

Hey Dean,

I did this a while ago and it has indeed saved me a ton of time.

Yet I still find more and more that I need to get rid of, I have kept a few of the better known marketers so I can see how they do it but I was finding emails from people that were coming in and instead of reading them I had been deleting them for months rather unsubscribing.

Will have to go have another clear out now, might be busy for an hour or so just unsubscribing from them all :-)

All the best,

James

3

Hi Dean

I cannot get the video to play, don’t know why, but from the comments from Fred and James above I assume your are talking about email and suggesting that we should unsubscribe from all but a few people.

I used to get 400 - 500 emails a day but did spend some time unsubscribing from most of them and will have to do it again soon as the numbers are creeping up again.

Hi Dean

What a great topic to address. I’ve already done the unsubscribe dance once, and its time for another one. Today!

Another tip that I was given recently was to use an email address just for subscribing to offers - that way they don’t clog up your primary/friends/personalinbox. And you also don’t see any of these offers without opening that email box. You might only do that once a week.

Your presence is always welcome in my email, however. Thanks mate.

Anthony

Hey Dean,

Great information that many coming online need to know about. True, there are many who need the content and information to learn, and will get promotions sent by everyone.

Best idea is to choose a few key people to follow and learn from. Better yet, hop onto a great coaching platform like yours, and they will learn more quickly.

Wish I’d made it back to Vegas… sorry I missed you guys there!

Dean, I also cannot get your video to play. I went through an unsubscribe fit a few months and it’s time to do it again. Sometimes you get into a trap where you don’t want to miss anything, but it takes so much time. It’s also very frustrating when you open the e-mail and the marketer is pitching the same products you are or can get from PLR.

7

Excellent advice. The mistake I made was ordering too many courses. It reached a point I couldn’t get to all the information, so I had to eliminate that practice. It’s difficult because the marketing experts know how to push the right buttons and create fear of loss. A little self-restraint goes a long way.

8

Hey guys!!

Thanks for all the great comments, it appears for some reason Firefox is not working with the video… Hmmmm I’ll have to get some advice and get it sorted for you all ASAP.

Maybe try watching it here -

Many thanks

Dean!!

9

Hey Dean,

Yep, Sorry Dean, I can’t see the video either in Firefox but I’ve got a pretty good idea what it’s about from the other comments.

I do an email purge now and then. If you don’t you’ll end up with so many emails it takes all day to go thru them. I do like to subscribe to other marketers to see what methods they are using but unfortunately for them I unsubscribe a couple months later. This way I have a revolving door of new marketers every few months.

I’ll come back later to see if you’ve fixed the video.

Later,
Jeff Sargent

Hi Dean

Once you start on the road of an online career, there are always people that catch your eye and make an inpression, you want to know what else they have got to say, so I am guilty of subscribing to far to many news letters etc..

But that said there are some great tips you can pick up on all subjects, I just try to scan what might be important to my everyday work and just read those, others that may give me some insight I save in seperate folders to read when I have a few minutes (which is not very often, this Internet marketing takes up most of my time at present), one day I will only have to work a couple of hours a day, like all the Guru’s promise.

The ones I dislike are those that send through the same affiliate products day in day out, week in week out, I wish they would just move on with their marketing.

Any way that is my little piece on the subject.

Rob

11

Hi Dean

Excellent advice, Dean. Each month I review the mails I receive and assess their “worth”. A few minutes of unsubscribing and I recoup time - a precious commodity.

Also, following on from Anthony Smits earlier comment, I have a number of email accounts: one for personal, one for promotional mails from fellow marketers, and an Outlook account where I manage the different “identities” connected to my websites.

Doing this helps me to prioritize my daily work - it’s so useful.

All the best

John

12

Hi Dean,

Superb content in the video as always.

I can totally relate to it as I made the big step myself at the New Year.

I was getting between 4-500 emails A DAY (waking up to about 250 of them!) and was getting bogged down in reading them and not actually moving my online Business forward.

I took the decision, like you rightly say, to remain on the lists of those marketers who ONLY give useful and interesting content mixed with a smattering of offers (Us marketers have got to pay the bills like everyone else after all!!!) Hence I am very happy to be on your list Dean.

I now only wake up to about 40 odd and its great. I have become instantly more productive and more focussed on 1 project and not working with a scattergun effect!!

But this is the great part. In the 15 months up to 31 Dec I had made just over $1000 online (pretty tough going!). Since 1 Jan I have seen exponential growth and have almost made that already in just 5 weeks!!!!!!! Onward and upward.

I must say that I have kept all the UK marketers on my list as I am planning a giveaway event in a few months for UK marketers only to add a freebie!! Watch this space!!

Keep up the great work Dean. You deserve all you achieve

Hey dean

Yes I had the problem with firefox so I went to the link you provided.
(Thanks)
Yes it is a great problem a lot of us suffer with, me as well, and I’ve mentioned this before in my posts.

And I think it’s about mindset.
You’ve just got to stay focused…one thing at a time…

So your video has come at a good time to remind us all yet again…

STOP DOING IT…

Have you got any advice for your readers how to go about receiving email…you mention you had a Yahoo acount…how many other different accounts did you have..?? what did you use them for..??how did you use them…?? I know some people use FFA to gain traffic..although I would advise against it…and they use free throw away email accounts because they get bombarded by email and spammers.

Good advice. One additional situation that I’ve noticed is that we may be very impressed with a product that we’ve purchased but never took action on it and the impression fades away. Then something else comes along and revives our enthusiasm and we purchase it and we’ve already forgotten about the wonderful product that we already own. Often times the new product isn’t even as good. Many of us have very valuable information already sitting on our hard drives. Implementation could make a big difference.

17

hello how are you hope you may be strong am very happy about your program and am glad to be a member and hope you will teach me to understand how i can go about it am much interested thank you

18

Hi,

Well what can I say, you have to have been watching me. Do you have a cam in my home? I can’t believe what you have said, you have been where we are. You have gone through what we newbie are doing “Like me”.
We that has stopped today. Thank you for the slap in the head, I needed that. Email me anytime, I do feel that you speek from the heart.

John in Australia

19

Hi Dean.
Yeah thanx for the advice. I am in the same boat as many others and just getting to much info. I am not reading most of my email as I just run throught the headlines real quick but still takes time and the ones I am saving for further reading never gets read. So might as well get rid of them. Cheers, John

20

Fire fox is working for me just great. Videos are Great. Thank you

21

WOW! Great video. I have been unsubscribing from emails the past two weeks. I have gotten more accomplished and even had time to spend doing the things that will really get my projects going.
Thanks for your advice.

22

Hello Dean,

Your e-mail was the second I opened (Yes first thing in the morning)
Both videos were motivating me to stop goofing off and DO something.
The difference was:The first guy’s looooong video was trying to sell something high priced.
Yours motivated me and had no sales pitch at the end. So now I am interested in not only what else you have to say, but what you are selling that might help me stop goofing off and actually make some money.
Thank you,
Look forward to you next e-mail (you are staying on my list)
Robski

23

I have the same problem. I get over 200 e-mails a day. I put about one third to Junk. I then skim through the rest and read about 15. I would be further ahead to unsubscribe to most of them. It would save a lot of time. I could be creating more websites with that time. Thanks for the advice.

24

Hi Dean

Your new email with the video link worked and as I suspected you were telling us to be selective about whose email lists we stayed on.

By unsubscribing we free up our email box and have more time for more important things.

I will be unsubscribing form one of the lists you have me on as I get two identical emails, with different headings, every time you do a mailing. Does your autoresponder not select duplicates from different lists so that only one email actually goes out to one subscriber?

Richard

25

If you want to stay on the lists, in case you want to use them sometime, you can just delete a page at a time. You dont have to open them.Actually my heart sinks even more when I receive videos- why cant they include a quick written resume to see if it is worth the time they want me to devote to their message?

26

Hi Dean

Another feather and gold star for your hat! Great video and advice for people. I did take that same advice you gave us during one of our Gold webinars and it did open the TIME DOOR and gave me more quality time to do what needs to be done. If anyone is reading my comment on Dean’s advice, all I will say is if you do what he suggested, you will come back to Dean and say Thank You Dean for giving me more time.

Hey Dean, let’s skype soon.

Roger

Go out and make it a $ucce$$ful day! :-)

27

This is a great video! Everything you have said is true. Thanks.

28

There is so much crap out there, thanks for the video!

29

Hi Dean
I agree about what you said and I feel like 90% of email are a waste of time because people are just selling other people products and don’t teach you any thing.Just like oh you and resell these products thats fine well I haven’t been able to get anyone to teach me how to transfer a product they turn around and try to sell me something else. When they say even someone with no skills can do this I found out they are full of crap.So I was glad you came out and said what you said

30

Hello Dean,
Thank you for that, I was about to come to that conclusion myself, but your little video means that i will.
Regards Wolfie(wolfgang)

31

Dean, Thanks so much for the video! Everything you said just click in my head and as soon as I’m done wrighting this I will take action! Again thanks so much Rick.

32

Hello dear friends Adam and Dean ! Thank you for your good letter. Sorry

33

Hey Dean

How it going mate, been awhile since Lee’s event…

Great video, this is something that I did last year. because for me it’s not just about knowing what’s happening in your marketing place, but what value do they provide…

Before my inbox looked like yours and took all my focus, and determination away. and most of all my time.

Cheers Dean,

Danny

34

I’ve had two other coaches tell me I needed to spend less time wading through emails and more time building profitable websites and squeeze pages, but I kept opening hundreds of emails a day and clicking links to watch yet another “earth shattering” video and downloading “free” stuff to my hard drive that I’d never look at again. Then I used that as time-wasting habit as an excuse for never getting anything done.

Your video FINALLY got to me, and I immediately unsubscribed from a dozen or so lists that have been sending me nothing but one offer after another. By the end of today, I intend to unsubscribe from about 100 more. I will keep only those that consistently provide content that I can use to further my training, but will delete without opening anything that even looks like an offer, until I get my daily emails down to an hour or less a day.

Thanks for your frankness, Dean.

Joy and abundance,
Cim

35

Great video - very good advice!

Just last week I started “unsubscribing” from anything that was not providing any useful information. Any thing that would give me new info / knowledge I kept, everything else goes. Also going to try to make sure that all e-mails I send provide value.

David

36

Hello Mr Dean Holland,

It is so true we all need to stop looking and start doing!
I have waisted 9months thinking I was busy but in realality I was busy reading junk and being totally unproductive!
I have taken on board lots of your info and as from today starting from scratch and I am building my internet business again …only this time PROPERLEY, this baby is going to be watertight so tonight I am starting with nothing, zero and finnishing with a very brash statement

Remmember my name….You have given me the rocket I needed to say that!

I have said it, I mean what I say I am now very very Excitied!!Man I love this job!

Take care Dean with love and respect from,

Darren Todd

When does your next training program start?

37

Hi Dean, your advice in your video was absolutely on the button! I am now in the process of taking action to eliminate this problem and keep on track as to what my original intention`s are to make my business a success,Thank You for this immensely valuable content much appreciated,Francis.

38

Hey Dean,

Thanks for the video and tips, I used to have this exact same problem, as I’m sure anyone who has ever been interested in IM will have too.

Luckily I saw the light and realised it was draining my time, and I was getting less and less done, and more and more distracted by all the different offers that were being thrown at me.

I now have a different agenda and mainly sign up to people’s lists that interest me, for research purposes.

It’s also a good way of spotting new trends and keeps you ahead of the pack.

Keep up the great work!

Paul

39

Hello Dean

Frankly I am wildly desperate about my personal ‘information overload’.

What does my ‘inbox’ look like ? Not too bad really. Only 113 unread right now. So where is the ‘problem’ you may ask ?

Inbox = 113

But I do have well over 100 categories that are going to separate ‘Inboxes’ and this is how ridiculous I have become. I have created a monster that is really consuming me and driving me mad.

Total unread messages = 11 451 …….. !

What on earth do I think I am doing ? There was a time when I truly thought I was making headway but for some time now I have been going round in square circles.

Come on Dean, here is a challenge ? I will definitely without hesitation unsubscribe from 100% of all other if you just give me a reason to believe that I too can move forward by following you.

I know it is up to me but I am admitting that I desperately need a ‘leader’ to get me back on track. Up to the challenge ?

OFBOR - Our Focus Becomes Our Reality

40

We all do it at one point or another.

And the more lists we add to the pile, the more we feel compelled to check every ten minutes for something new.

In the end… what have we got? A day full of clicking our inbox, and not actually doing anything at all!

I cut my teeth on the old school guru plan when that’s all we knew. I was a regular promo junky sending out whatever came across my desk. It paid well, but I hated it. Finally, I just quit. I even cut off ties with some big names and told them outright no more promos, sorry. Caught some flack for that…but it’s worth it.

Dean is a good friend and we had some long talks about the direction of this market.

I think Dean speaks well for us all in saying, enough is enough.

Let’s cut to the chase and do some real learning and growing.

We need some real content, and I’m proud to say there’s people like Dean out there willing to answer that call.

41

Hi Dean

Great video and a point very well made.

Most of what is out there is rubbish anyway sent by people who are trying to make a quick buck!!

I always automatically hit unsubscribe now as a matter of habit!!

James

42

Hi Dean, I’ve been marketing (in earnest) for a couple of months and I already have two websites up and running. I know I’ve made mistakes with both sites and I probably won’t make much money out of them, but I still see it as part of the learning curve we’re all on.

I’ve gotten into the habit of repeating the mantra, ‘I can be a success, I will be a success, I AM a success!’

Onwards and upwards.

Watching a video like yours is a personal reminder of the due diligence required to be a success.

I thank you for that.

Ray.

43

Dean, This is the #1 time bandit for most people, let alone IM people. I started doing this two weeks ago, what I did to get started was to hit the “SELECT ALL’ button then unselected the ones that I wanted, I instantly was amazed at the # emails that went away when I hit the DELETE button. After that I started the unsubscribe process of 5-10 a day.:-) Also I never look at my emails first thing when I go on my computer, if I do I lose (time) This the #1 key habit to develop in order to be successful online. Keep up the good work Dean.
Nathan
PS Thanks for the favor you did for me, everything work out.

44

Hello Dean:

I too am guilty of information overload.
I am ashamed to say how may emails are in my inbox. I actually maxed out the Hotmail account and could not send out going emails - (only a clue to my delimma).
This information is extremely valuable to me and thank you for the wake up call! I am implementing it immediately.

Regards,
Sherrie Davis

45

hi dean,i started cutting down on my emails a couple of years ago,but i still get a lot in my gmail account as i click for credits so i can promote various programs, but a good video dean, many thanks charles inglis.

46

Hi Dean

If one person tells you to do something … he/she may be blowing steam.
If two people tell you to do something … you probably should listen.
If three people tell you to do something … you need to listen.
if more people tell you to do something … why aren’t you listening?

I can’t even get my mailbox empty so I guess I better start deleting them. Besides, if you follow 1/2 dozen people you’ll hear about everything there is going on out there anyway. Most of the info is just a repeat.

Glen Ford

47

Good point Dean. I have eliminated some but you have convinced me to go thru my whole list and get rid of them. By the time I finish reading my emails I am too tired to work on my business.

Mr. Bill

48

Your video is a timely reminder and I would like to thank you for that.

I have also noticed that some of the marketers are placing the unsubscribe option waaaaaayyyy down the email. One has to scroll for sometime before finding it. I’m not sure if it’s by purpose or accident.

Time to trim the fat and move on.

Cheers.

49

Thanks for the valuable information - and call to action - on this powerful productivity killer. Maybe you could come up with more videos on some other time-wasters like forums, games, instant messengers…

50

Hey Dean ,Thanx for the advice . I am overwhelmed with all the junk that I am being sent !!!!!!!!! I have tried to delist but some of the buggers pop up under a different email address. Also some dont show a delist link!
Cheers
Ron

51

Hi Dean mate,

Hey - I read your email…lol
That’s because you’re in my number one email inbox!!!

My solution is slightly different to yours -

I have multiple email account ;)
That way I subscribe with email number 2 or 3 or 4 depending on my initial thoughts to the promotion that got me adding an email.
Then after seeing a few emails I decide if I’m going to resubscribe to my number one inbox.

Those that remain in one of the others get the headlines skimmed just to keep me up to date as to what other marketers are doing. I find this can help with my own marketing.
But it also means I know that I don’;t have to waste those hours when I have things I need to get done.

==

Now - I wonder where my emails to you go…hehe

Warm Regards
Randy
P.S. Hope to see you in Newcastle in a couple of weeks :)

52

Dean,
I’m sorry but I think you’re looking at this from the wrong perspective. I subscribe to many list as I’m sure you do too, and it’s the smartest thing in the world. Here’s why:
When you subscribe to lists of successful internet marketers guess what you get from them for free…their exact ways of marketing because they are marketing to you. This is the best way to see how the best are being successful, what tools and strategies they are using, and that you can do to make your business more successful.
Instead of looking at these emails as products people are trying to sell you, look at HOW they are trying to sell them.
Best of luck Dean, I really like your stuff.
Kevin

53

Yeah Dean. I hear you about all the “SALES” emails that get sent to subscribers. It reeeeaaaally stinks. I’m glad that you taught us that you have to build a relationship with your list. Give them something they can use to help get them started online or to help them build their business, don’t just try to sell to them with every email. Be a friend, not a cheesy sales person. The more people you help succeed, the more successful you will be in the long run.

Thanks for the great post,

Ed Rubi

54

Hi Dean

I agree about the amount of time reading emails can take up. I had stopped opening everything and just scanning and deleting, but I think even that takes up a lot of time, so I’m now going to unsubscribe.

The biggest reason for me to delete? Those emails which say things like “your free download” or “take a look at this” and don’t give you any idea what it’s about. I really dislike that and don’t even bother to open them - If you can’t be bothered to tell me what your email is about, I can’t be bothered to open it as I have much better things to do with my time thank you!

I have to be more productive now as my work contract was recently terminated. I told you in December that I planned to give up my job this year - it’s a bit sooner than I’d planned but now I have to do what I dreamed of doing as I need to earn the money to pay the bills!

I’m just making the plans at the moment to be productive and consistent. This is one thing I can do quickly and easily - perhaps ten minutes at a time. Thanks for the push in the right direction. I hope next time that I will be in Vegas as a successful online marketer.

Hilary

55

Hey Dean!!

Hope you’ve recovered from Vegas.. I’m just about back to normal!!

Awesome video… this was a problem that I suffered from for a long time. In fact, whilst in Vegas I made a video all about information overload (and spaghetti) for my own blog…

I’d love to hear what you think too, dude!

Anyway, everyone, listen to everything Dean says.. he really knows his stuff.

Cheers,
Marc

56

Hey Dean,

I hear ya, loud and clear. Embarrassingly, I have 102,456 unread messages in one of my Yahoo accounts!!!

I am about to take your advice. I spend half my life and income on line, going through my daily e-mails….

I could have created dozens of digital products, just in the past few years alone, instead of playing with my e-mails….

More people should take heed…we are all guilty from time to time.

Thanks for the passionate and personal touch to help us get off our butts…!

Great Content!

Loved it,

andrew

57

Hello Dean,
thanks for the informative video on the way I spend my time every morning, (i.e. every morning I waste 2 hours going through emails. that are a only pitching for the marketers latest affiliate venture and I can’t seem to get going myself on the road to internet riches! seeing your video helped open my eyes this morning to a new day in my on-line career as a marketer. this and a few other videos from the weekend will get my new pages up and marketing them the way I should be.
thanks Again for the fast action tips to getting my day started off making money rather then spending it.
Joe

58

Hey Dean…

The idea is to carefully consider each marketer and their emails after a while.

When you first subscribe to a new AR list, if the marketer knows their business interest, you will get a series of targeted emails, follow ups to the main topic you were interested in.
If that happens, I start reading the emails.

After a while, they finish the series and either they send you to a new offer or start broadcasting.

There are also others who start broadcasting immediately.

In any case, as soon as they start broadcasting, I start the evaluation.

If I get the copycat unmodified swipe emails whenever a new IM launch pops up, I only keep them for about 2-3 messages and when I’m sure they have nothing new to tell me I unsubscribe.

However, if they still send for the launches but at least try to change the subjects if not the body message, too… then I keep them on my Inbox.
Just as Randy Smith said up there somewhere - I need to see what happens in the industry.

The other main category - the marketers who share info, write blog posts etc… (like you’re doing) - are always welcome to my Inbox.

Regarding the necessary time and the personal way I’m managing my Inbox, here it is.
I use Gmail and I use filters and labels there.
I am archiving emails that might be interesting, while I still delete large numbers of them.

BUT

I do so as a reward for a job done in that day.
This helps me keep productive and also keeps me happy when I select the bunch of emails to be deleted on that day and hit the ‘Delete’ button - I feel so elated!

Steve Lorenzo SEOVirtuoso

60

Hey Dean

Great advice - just unsubscribed to your list ~ just kidding! Actually, yours is one of the emails I look forward to receiving. You rarely ask for money or try to sell.

I agree that most of the emails I get are either junk or salesy. I do try to make an effort and unsubscribe, but I guess I am weak!!

Thanks to your video, off to unsubscribe to some more!!

Thanks Dean

61

Good practical point Dean :)
Will take action.

62

I was very pleased to see and hear your video message. Yes. I am a newbie but I also have in excess of 5000 e-mails. When I look back and think of what I do have coming in nly a very are offering REAL HELP to me and I enjoy them, the others are generally BS and only HYPE. Yes I was very vulnerable and purchased many worthless products. My fa,oly has been long saying I am a succker however one day I will get where I need to be because I am vey motivated and willing to learn
If you are or want to be in this business you had bettewr be able to differenciate to helprs from the takers. Thanks for this tid bit as it was a help and you are 10000000000000000000% correct. Have a great day.

63

Hi Dean, I have done “list cleaning” many times but I really don’t understand that more and more emails are coming to my inbox. My conclusion is that some list owners are selling email addresses forward. I’m 100% sure that I have never asked to be on their lists and emails are pouring in.
This really is frustrating and irritates me and could be very confusing to newbies because they simply don’t know who are honest people and who scammers.
In some phase I even changed my email address to get rid of all junk but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll get only emails you really want to have.

Thanks for advice, this and all other you have shared.

Found all the comments, but the video wasn’t there..

Dan

65

Hi Dean,

Getting too much email and reading it is too time consuming. Even sorting it out can take hours.

I’ve been canceling subscriptions for some time now but still have to keep on doing it.

It was great to meet you at the Las Vegas Workshop in January.
I posted about the event and included some pictures and you are also featured.

Vance

66

HI Dean:
I have far too many emails, too. So, I’ve been thinking of unsubscribing from most of them.. Since I see you guys doing it, I will too.
Thanks
Dan

67

Keeping up with emails, blogs, forums, and all the rest can be a real drain on your time if you don’t know how to manage it. Affiliate marketing has been my main focus until recently and it certainly keeps you busy managing multiple websites. I’ve just launched my own products and membership and will be spending more time on that now, hope your new ventures going well Dean,

Dean,

We’ve had this conversation before! At least once, while you were mentoring those of us, in your first online academy. Spot on, Dude!
Got to stop the crap! Sooo easy to get distracted by it all. I will definitely take your advice and unsubscribe and only visit the inbox occasionally, instead of 1st thing everyday.
Thanks,

Mike

This is one of the biggest things that stop people progressing….we’ve all suffered this way in our early days!

Hi Dean,

The video is not appearing right now, but I see from the comments what it is about.
You’re quite right of course, but I have to say that unsubscribing doesn’t always work and still get the emails, and then there are the ones with no unsubscribe - I just report them as spam but they just keep coming!

Did your video address this problem?

Mary
